Online Foundation Course in Internet Governance

DiploFoundation announces the opening of the call for applications for participants for the 2011 Online Foundation Course in Internet Governance of the ACP Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Internet Governance (IG) Capacity Development Programme, to all government and sub-regional/regional institutions involved in ICT and IG policy as well as civil society, business, academia, media and other interested individuals or groups from ACP countries. The call for applications will be open from 15 January until 12 February 2011. This online component of the programme is designed to improve IG and ICT policy-related knowledge and skills of participants. The programme also facilitates community building among individuals with different national, cultural and professional backgrounds.

Ethiopian Project Selected as Regional Best in WSA

As EITPA is working as a national expert in the World Summit Award and nominated two projects for the World Best Mobile contest in m-Health and m-Idol, the later is selected as the regional best.

The United Nations based World Summit Award announces the winners of the best mobile content and apps to be called on stage at the Abu Dhabi Gala, December 6th, 2010. While mobile telephony is a global network, the best content comes from producers developing very local content. India and US producers are winning 4 awards each in the 8 categories of the WSA-mobile. Russia and Germany score high in content quality with 3 winners each. More than 420 products from close to 100 UN member states were entered in the 2010 contest.

IT PhD. Program introduced Center for IT Research and Innovation (CITRI)
A consultative workshop to deliberate on the establishment of CITRI was held on October 4-5, 2010 at the Ghion Hotel. The workshop has brought together some 60 of the IT PhD Program of AUU's research partners from the USA, Europe and mainly from within the country to deliberate on issues relating to how CITRI is to be organized to fulfill its objectives within the context of the existing university structure. The vision, mission, value and functions of CITRI were also among the core topics of discussion during the workshop. The workshop was successful in its deliberation and provided a solid and invaluable feedback to finalize the establishment document for the envisaged launching of the center in January 2011.
